After studying graphic design for five years I ventured into photography. It has been over 15 years since then and I haven’t looked back. Photographing people was always going to be my chosen career path; I just didn’t quite know where it was going to lead.

In 2002 my path detoured a little when I joined the Royal Air Force as a professional photographer. The level of training I received there was second to none. Along with the training I came away with an internationally recognized certificate.

But that doesn’t take into consideration the life experience and people skills you gain from such a prestigious company, it teaches you to be confident, tenacious, affable and patient; all of which are priceless when photographing people.

I left the RAF in 2007 due to expanding my family with a couple of new additions. But that hasn’t halted my photography and since leaving, my business has taken off.

I run my business from home and not a studio, preferring instead to come to the client’s home and work with their canvas. I have yet to met a child who will photograph as naturally in a studio as they do in their own surroundings or places they love to go.

Also, my husband is in the RAF still and I’m likely to be posted which makes it a little difficult to become established in one area. Therefore I work nation wide; travelling to Belfast, North Yorkshire, and Inverness in the last 18 months as well as photographing locally; my work has taken me to some stunning parts of the country.
